There’s no battle like a spiritual one! In HELL IN THE CHOIRSTAND, Jeremiah David Day moves to the spiritually desolate city of Olds. Jeremiah, an anointed Gospel musician, receives an invitation from Rev. Daniel Trantham, the pastor of Ezekiel Baptist Church, to become their minister of music. Ezekiel’s congregation welcomes Jeremiah as he goes to work establishing the music department as an army of worshipers, but Renard Singleton, the church organist, feels that Jeremiah is unnecessarily disturbing the natural order of things.
Renard resents being overlooked for the music minister position, and enters into a spree of revenge against Jeremiah through botched choir rehearsals and petty squabbles with individual singers. Renard concentrates the majority of his activities, however, in the spiritual realm.
Unbeknownst to Jeremiah, Renard is a member of the Society of Tyrus; a secretive, demonic cult of musicians with chapters (The Pentagrammatory) that span across the country. Renard prepares a series of musical spells and incantations; prescribed from a book (Codified Manual of Tyrus) whose origin dates back to the 9th century and believed to be inspired by Heaven’s (excommunicated) original chief musician, Lucifer. Renard’s intention – use music to erect confusion among God’s people through the worship services.
Renard’s father, Adrian, attempts to dissuade his son’s scheme with the admission of a thirty year old family secret, but it’s to no avail. Equipped with the new information, Renard heightens his damnable acts – the planting of arcane devices in Bibles, morbid musical arrangements, and secular compositions that call for the eradication of the people of God. As the story progresses, the Tyrus Society’s annual DOA – a nationwide strategic confusion of church worship - is fast approaching, and Renard wants to be at the forefront of the movement.
But God has sharpened Jeremiah’s weapon.
A battle ensues as the two musicians take up arms. Jeremiah embraces the Lord while Renard clutches the Ras el-Ain. The result is a musical showdown in the middle of a worship service where human and instrumental voices unite to summon the ear of God and mobilize an angelic host.
The Heavens are telling! HELL IN THE CHOIRSTAND is a revelation of the power that music possesses and how faith in God restores and upholds a people, a city, and the world.

Mr. Pollard wanted to show the readers in order that history lesson being the aspect how that satanic repercussion were created, at times, a subtle attempt, no make that a subtle success at messing with "true" gospel. The Characters were well created which shape them believable and truly gave them personality. The picturesque transcription of this Christian Novella encouraged me to put a picture (In My Mindset) the glimpse of the characters while I am reading. Even though this is a fiction book but I can relate to this storytelling. Not only I been in the Church most of my life but I also sang in the Choir, the characters were substantial and in good representations of the type of individuals that I will encounter in the Church. The overshadow theme about the forces of Satan work their way in disguise into the Church definitely is the absolute the truth that Titus Pollard is talking about in this book. This is something for me to think about and makes me to be more in the right mind both in my personal life and in the Church. The devil sit right next to us in the Church pews, singing in the Choir, on the Pulpit, on the deacon and trustee board in the purpose of destroying the Church through the Church Folks. Satan love to slither his way into our Church Services without us knowing it. I also love the way Titus Pollard presented the Word of God to each verse from the Holy Bible, with the next one was a genius idea in the purpose of minister to the readers.

Very insightful and well constructed in alignment with God's word. The author's research is phenomenal, this book will reveal the subtle tricks of the enemy in the modern church. Interesting format and storyline, fictional but real. The book is to generate much conversation for Bookclub readers, Saints and Aints.

This book challenge me, gave me a new perspective on spiritual warfare, and love the history aspect. The author is truly is using anointed!!! Thank you for sharing your gift. God bless you. IF YOU READ ONE BOOK THIS YEAR THIS BOOK IS IT!!!!
"Hell in the Choir Stand" is another great book by Titus Pollard. I've always viewed music as a way to minister to the soul in a positive way. It's hard to believe that someone would intentionally try to disrupt a worship service through music. This book tells of a church organist named Renard who tries on more than one occasion to disrupt the worship services. It was evident that Satan was using Renard in a big way, but God was still in control in the form of Jeremiah. The symbolism and how things unfolded at the appropriate time had me glued to the book. I highly recommend this book.
The book "Hell In The Choirstand" is a must read for everyone. When I began reading the book, I had to take a moment to absorb what I had just read. Then continuing to read it, I realized that this is reality. We as Christians fail to understand that this War between Good and Evil still continues in the church today. While Jeremiah has come to a city wanting to live a normal life with his soon to be wife Arze' (he has no idea that the person he has just met is the Pastor of Ezekial MBC) he soon learns that God has plans for him and is going to work through him to accomplish some things. However as Jeremiah has been chosen to be the Min of Music of the church, Satan begins to show his ugly face through Renard. And this is where it all begins!

While I would like to tell the whole story, it is important to read it for yourself. While reading the book I had to stop several times and meditate on what I had just read. In this book you will see that GOD is truly, ALL KNOWING and Holds all power in His hands. There is a war going on in Ezekial MBC between the two musicians and the choir didn't even know it. The book is definitely a MUST READ!! The author has done a great thing by writing this book!!
The depth of the storyline was enhanced by the mix of factual and historical pieces that were interwoven into the storyline. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the history lesson that started this book off. However, that history piece ended up being the aspect that intrigued me and taught me the most about how demonic influence has made, at times, a subtle attempt, no make that a subtle success at messing with "true" gospel. And it was a "page-turner" once I got to Verse 3.

This book was also a page turner because the characters were well developed which made them believable and gave them personality. The descriptive writing of this novel helped me to visualize (in my head) the "look" of the characters as I read. And having been in church a large part of my youth the characters were solid and were good representations of the type of people you would actually encounter in church.

I can appreciate the touch of sensuality in the book and consider it a good expression of black "married" love (but excluding the Festival of the Lambs part).

The overarching theme of how demonic forces work their way into today's church doesn't seem far fetched and the approach that the author chose makes me think and causes me to be more conscious of "things" both in church and in my daily life.

The workings described of the Society of Tyrus don't seem far fetched and to me give a good explanation of how satan is able to slither his way into church services.

Finally, the use of scripture to tie each "verse" with the next was a great use of scripture.
